I’m a little late on this one… I’ve been buried in the writing cave getting Conflicted Desire ready for the presses, but in the spirit of better late than never, here we go…
In January, two women took a photo near the water at Sydney Harbour and posted it on Georgia Gibb’s Instagram:
What happened next? A tidal wave of body-shaming trolling from the nastiest corners of society accusing her of photoshopping her friend to appear larger than her. The comments have since been deleted, but intolerance for different sizes and shapes remains.
The rainbow of the story though is the two women fought back against the hate and created a new joint account Any Body where they promote body love images.
AND the women now actively campaign for brands to use all shapes and sizes in their advertising! Femme Power! If you care about this issue, these women are a huge source of inspiration.
